You do not have to work out what is available to you. We route you automatically based on your country of residence — or, if someone else is paying for you, theirs — so the options you see are already filtered to the ones that work from where the money is actually coming from. You will not be shown a method you cannot use, and you will not have to compare providers or hunt for exchange rates yourself.
Depending on where you are paying from, you will see one of three setups:
- Flywire only
- Flywire or international bank transfer (SWIFT)
- International bank transfer (SWIFT) only
Why we route you to Flywire because…
- The price you see is the price you pay. Flywire locks your exchange rate and builds every fee into the amount shown. Nothing is deducted along the way, so the full required amount arrives.
- We have already checked the rate. We only preselect Flywire where a local partner bank's exchange rate comes close to the mid-market exchange rate — the benchmark rate banks quote each other
- You pay in your own currency, from your own bank account or card. No converting rupees, yuan or pesos yourself.
- You can track it, end to end. Flywire gives you a step-by-step tracking dashboard, so you always know where your money is. An international
- transfer gives you no visibility once it leaves your bank.
- It is faster. 2–5 business days by bank transfer, or instant if you pay by card.
Flywire-only countries
If you live in one of these countries, Flywire has a local partner bank offering an attractive exchange rate. You pay in your local currency, the price you see is the price you pay, and there are no hidden fees to worry about.

If you transfer your blocked amount, in whole or in part, from a country classed as "high-risk" under EU anti-money-laundering rules or by the German Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), you will also need to complete our Source of Funds process. Plan an extra 2 to 4 weeks for this.
