  2. Enter the mTAN that you receive on your registered mobile number.
  3. Select the purpose of your extension.
  4. Enter the starting date, duration and monthly blocked amount for your extended period.
  5. Agree to all the terms and conditions

Here is a video demonstrating these steps:

Important considerations about the Account Extension

  1. The initial fee for an account extension is €89.00. In addition, there are monthly fees of €4.90.

  2. "Terminated" accounts can be extended. However, to extend "expired" accounts, kindly mail your account to
  3. The monthly payouts in your existing blocked account must be already set up and running before you can start an extension.
  4. There should be no time gap between the original and extended durations of your blocked account. For example, if your original blocked account duration ends in December, your extension can start latest on the 1st of January. However, the original and extended durations can overlap.
  5. Your monthly payouts can be adjusted if required. However, if you change your monthly blocked amount to a lower sum for the extension period, you will have to provide a document proving that the lower sum has been approved by the German visa authorities.
  6. It is very important that you request an extension in your account before transferring any money to your blocked account. Please transfer the required amount only when we ask you to do so.

  7. If some months overlap between the original and extended durations, then do not transfer the full monthly sum for the overlapping months, since your current coverage will be considered in the calculation of the total blocked amount required for the extended duration. Please only transfer the amount that we mention in your Transfer Information Document.
  8. Until the payouts for the extended duration are set up, the monthly payouts of the original duration are stopped if:
    • Some months overlap between the original and extended durations
    • The monthly payouts for the original and extended durations are different

The payouts are stopped only for the overlapping months to ensure that the original account balance is not influenced.
