Are there fees for the account extension? When and how do I have to pay them?

Yes, each blocked account extension incurs a service fee. The fee depends on when your original blocked account was opened.

💡 Which fee applies to you

• If your account was opened before 3 November 2025:
  Your extensions will continue under the old fee.

• If your account was opened on or after 3 November 2025:
  Your extensions will be charged the new fee.

🔁 What is an account extension?

An extension means prolonging your existing blocked account for another period (for example, to extend your stay or studies in Germany). It is not the same as a re-opening. Re-opened accounts are treated as new accounts and charged the new fee.

💳 When and how to pay

• You’ll be informed about the required extension fee when you start your extension process in your Fintiba account.

• The fee will be added to the total amount you must transfer and deducted from your blocked account.

To avoid delays, start your extension process at least two weeks before your current blocked account period ends.
