How much do I need to send, in what currency, and can I fund in multiple transfers?

How much

Send your required amount. The exact figure is shown in your Fintiba account once your application is approved — you do not need to calculate it yourself. Section 3 explains how it is worked out and what the other amounts on that screen mean.

What matters at the moment of transfer is not the figure itself but how much of it actually arrives, and that depends on your method.

  • With Flywire, the amount you see is the amount that arrives. Fees and exchange rate are already built in.
  • With an international bank transfer (SWIFT), fees are deducted along the way. Send a buffer on top of your required amount, or your account will arrive short and you will need to make a second transfer.

In what currency

The final blocked amount has to arrive in EUR. How you get there depends on your method.

With Flywire, transfer the currency displayed to you.

  • If that is your local currency, transfer in your local currency. The conversion is already handled.
  • If it is another currency, the amount shown is still final — just make sure you send it in the currency displayed.

Country examples — all based on a required amount of €12,063

*Exchange rates shift daily, so the exact amount you see may vary from one day to the next.

India. You will usually see several local bank transfer options plus card payment options. The conversion is taken care of, so the price you see is the final price — no need to convert your rupees yourself. If you hold a USD account, a Flywire bank transfer in US dollars is also available.

China. Flywire offers Alipay, WeChat Pay and debit/credit card, all in Chinese yuan, so there is no need to convert the currency yourself. If you would rather pay in another currency, Flywire bank transfers in US dollars or British pounds are also available.

Egypt. Egypt does not currently have a local partner bank through Flywire. You can pay by card in Egyptian pounds, or make a Flywire bank transfer in US dollars or British pounds instead.

Indonesia. You can pay by debit or credit card, JCB card, or bank transfer, all in Indonesian rupiah, with the conversion already built into the price. Flywire bank transfers in US dollars or British pounds are available if you hold an account in those currencies.

With an international bank transfer (SWIFT), transfer in EUR. You are responsible for the foreign exchange fee, the SWIFT fee, and any intermediary bank fees.

Can I make multiple transfers?

You can, but we strongly recommend sending everything in one go.

Refunds go back to the original sending account. If your visa application is rejected and money came in from three different accounts, the refund has to be split across all three. One transfer from one account keeps that simple.
